This privacy policy explains how Birdhill Radio (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use our website, mobile apps, and Amazon Alexa skill.

Birdhill Radio is a volunteer-run Irish country music station based in County Tipperary, Ireland. Contact: [email protected].

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to:

• The Birdhill Radio website at birdhillradio.com
• Official Birdhill Radio apps for phones and tablets
• The official Birdhill Radio Amazon Alexa skill

If you listen through a third-party service such as TuneIn, that service has its own privacy policy. We do not control how those companies collect or use your data.

2. What we collect

You can listen to Birdhill Radio without creating an account with us. We do not sell your personal information.

Alexa skill

• Amazon processes your voice requests. We do not receive a recording of your voice.
• We may receive an anonymous Amazon user identifier, your locale/language, and the command you gave the skill (for example play, stop, or pause).
• We use this only to start or stop the radio stream and to make the skill work.

Mobile apps

• The apps play our live stream and may show now-playing information (song title / show).
• We may receive basic technical information such as device type, operating system version, and crash or error reports so we can fix problems.
• We do not require you to register, and we do not ask for access to your contacts, camera, or photos.
• Audio playback needs permission to play sound on your device. That is the only permission we need for listening.

Website

• If you use the contact form or guestbook, we collect the name, email address, and message you submit so we can reply or (for the guestbook, after approval) publish your message. Guestbook emails are not published.
• Live chat messages you send are visible to other listeners in the chat.
• Our hosting and security tools (including Cloudflare) may process your IP address and standard server logs to keep the site running and protected.

3. How we use information

• To stream Birdhill Radio to your device or Alexa speaker
• To respond to messages, song requests, and support questions
• To operate and improve the website, apps, and Alexa skill
• To keep the service secure and diagnose faults

We do not use your information for advertising profiles, and we do not sell it to anyone.

4. Sharing with others

We share information only when needed to run the service:

• Amazon — voice requests and Alexa skill operation (Amazon’s privacy policy also applies)
• Apple / Google — if you download the app from their stores, they process store-account data under their own policies
• Stream hosting — our audio stream is delivered by our hosting provider so you can listen
• Legal requests — if we are required by law to disclose information

Donations made via PayPal are handled by PayPal, not by us storing your payment card details.

5. Children

Our apps, website, and Alexa skill are for a general audience. They are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

6. How long we keep data

• Contact form messages: kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry
• Guestbook entries: kept while they remain published on the site
• Server and stream logs: kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting
• Alexa skill requests: we do not store voice recordings; technical logs are kept only as needed to operate the skill

7. Your rights (including GDPR)

If you are in the UK, Ireland, or the wider European Economic Area, you can ask us to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data, where we have no need to keep it
• Object to or restrict certain processing

To do this, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission (or your local data protection authority).

To disable the Alexa skill, use the Alexa app: Skills & Games → your skills → Birdhill Radio → Disable skill. You can also review or delete Alexa voice history in your Amazon account settings.

To stop the app collecting technical data, uninstall the app from your device.

8. International transfers

Our station is in Ireland. Some providers (for example Amazon Alexa) may process data outside Ireland. Where that happens, they do so under their own terms and applicable data-protection rules.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the website, apps, or Alexa skill after an update means you accept the revised policy.
